Overview

Adding a Zambia mobile money recipient is the fastest recipient flow on Devdraft — just a phone number, with the name resolved and verified automatically. This guide walks through the flow from tapping + on the Recipients screen to saving the recipient.
Zambia mobile money payouts are sent to an Airtel or MTN number in Zambia.

What You Need Before You Start

Have the following ready before you begin:

Step 1 — Start Adding a Recipient

From the Recipients tab, tap the + icon in the top-left corner.

Step 2 — Choose the Recipient Type

The Add Recipient popup opens with four destination types:
  • International bank — ACH, Wire, SEPA, PIX, SPEI and more
  • Stablecoin wallet — Send to a wallet address
  • Zambia bank — Bank account in Zambia
  • Zambia mobile money — Airtel or MTN in Zambia
Select Zambia mobile money.

Step 3 — Enter the Number

The Add recipient · Zambia screen shows a single field: As soon as a valid number is entered, Devdraft automatically looks up and verifies the account, showing the resolved account holder’s name in a green confirmation badge below the field (e.g. “Joseph Banda”).
Unlike the bank beneficiary flows, this is a single-step process — there’s no separate Owner or Bank Details screen, and no name field to fill in manually. The account holder’s name comes directly from the verified mobile money account.
Double-check the number before saving — since the name is auto-resolved from the number itself, an incorrect digit will surface someone else’s verified name rather than an error.
Once the account is verified, tap Save recipient.

What Happens Next

Once saved, the beneficiary appears on the Recipients screen and is ready to receive a mobile money payout via Airtel or MTN.
