# Local Mobile Money

> How to send USDC from Devdraft to a mobile money wallet, which countries and providers are supported, how the exchange rate and cash-out fee work, and how to track your transfer.

# Sending Money to a Mobile Money Account

Devdraft lets you send USDC that arrives in the recipient's mobile money wallet as local currency, for example Zambian Kwacha (ZMW) in Zambia, paid out through Devdraft's cash-out network. This guide covers choosing a saved recipient, entering an amount, reviewing the rate and fees, confirming, and tracking the transfer.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Transfers are sent to **saved recipients**, so the recipient's mobile money account should already be added to your account. You can also add one from the send screen. See [Supported Countries and Providers](#supported-countries-and-providers) for where you can send.

## How Recipients Receive the Money

You send USDC from your Devdraft balance. Devdraft converts it to the recipient's local currency and pays it straight into their mobile money wallet, the same way a regular mobile money payment would arrive.

## Sending Money

**1. Tap Send**

From your account home screen, tap **Send**.

**2. Choose Mobile Money**

On the **Send** screen, choose how you want to send money:

| Option | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Bank** | Send via bank transfer, ACH, Wire, SEPA |
| **Your own** | Send to a bank you connected through Plaid |
| **Mobile Money** | Send to mobile money accounts |
| **Blockchain** | Send crypto to blockchain addresses |
| **Devdraft User** | Send directly using an email or @tag |

Tap **Mobile Money**.

**3. Choose a saved recipient**

The **Send To** screen shows your saved recipients under **Recent**. Select the saved recipient you want to send to.

> [!NOTE]
>
> To add a new recipient, tap **New recipient** → **Add a mobile money account**, choose their country, and enter their mobile money details. Once saved, they'll appear in your recipients list for future transfers.

**4. Enter the amount**

On the next screen (step 2 of 3), enter how much you want to send. The screen shows the estimated amount your recipient gets in their local currency, e.g. Joseph\_ gets ≈ 179.24 ZMW\_.

Tap **Continue** once you're happy with the amount.

**5. Review the transfer**

The **Review** screen (step 3 of 3) shows the full breakdown before you send:

| Field | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **To** | The recipient's name and mobile money number |
| **You send** | The USDC amount leaving your balance, e.g. *10.00 USDC* |
| **Rate** | The USD-to-local-currency exchange rate applied, e.g. *1 USD ≈ 19.30 ZMW* |
| **Cash-out fee** | The fee for converting and paying out to a mobile money wallet, shown in the recipient's local currency, e.g. *13.72 ZMW* |
| **Recipient gets** | The final local-currency amount the recipient will receive, e.g. *179.24 ZMW* |
| **Arrives** | Estimated delivery time, e.g. **Within 24 hours** |

A note under the breakdown confirms this explicitly: *Paid out in Zambia via the cash-out network. The rate is an estimate; the final amount is confirmed at settlement.*

> [!NOTE]
>
> The rate shown is an estimate. The final amount is confirmed at settlement, since exchange rates can move slightly between review and payout.

**6. Send**

Tap **Send** to confirm the transfer.

## After You Send

You'll see an **On its way** confirmation showing the amount sent, the recipient, and the estimated arrival window, e.g. *10.00 USDC to Joseph Zimba — arrives within 24 hours*. From here you can tap **Done** to return to your account.

## Tracking Your Transfer

Every transfer appears in your **Transactions** list as a **Withdrawal**, with its current status and how long ago it was sent.

Tap any transaction to open **Transaction Details**, which shows:

| Field | Notes |
| - | - |
| **Status** | e.g. Payment Submitted, Payment Success, Failed |
| **Type** | Withdrawal |
| **Date & Time** | When the transfer was initiated |
| **Currency** | The currency sent, e.g. USDC |
| **Reference** | A unique transaction reference you can copy |

From this screen you can tap **View Receipt** for a downloadable record of the transaction, expand **References** for more reference details, or tap **Get Help** if something looks wrong.

> [!NOTE]
>
> If a transfer shows as **Failed**, the funds are not deducted from your available balance. You can review the details and try again, or reach out via **Get Help** if you're unsure why it failed.
